Norfolk is blessed with lovely places to discover and explore, market towns, quaint villages and hamlets and a fascinating City all lying in wait to surprise and delight all who venture in. The architectural style and materials used is quite varied from flint and stone up in the northern part of the county to cob, wattle and daub in the south. Thatch  harvested from the Broads was widely used for roofing, as well as pantiles. Being mostly a rural area, the market towns provide wonderful opportunities to buy very diverse local products from meats through to honey, soaps and even wool. Many villages have wonderful pubs as well as glorious churches at the heart of their community and some offer the visitor a glimpse into Norfolk life of yesteryear with rural life museums or working flour mills. Each Norfolk town, village or hamlet has it own unique atmosphere and each offers visitors a very warm welcome.
