Living History Afloat
The history of the Norfolk Broads is well documented, however you can experience those early days yourself aboard one of the very first boats to be built expressly for hire. The following is a short precis of her life, but find out out how you can experience for yourself an bygone era aboard a piece of living history. Cruise through the very same magical rivers and waterways of the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads that Spark of Light first sailed on in 1927
Spark of Light
In 1927, Mr Herbert Woods hand built a lovely wooden boat and he called it Spark of Light.
This motor cruiser was one of the first boats to ply for hire to holidaymakers who flocked to the Norfolk Broads to explore its beautiful and some say magical waterways.
Through the passage of time and service, Spark of Light eventually ended up in private hands but she returned home to Herbert Woods Boatyard in 2011 after being bought back into the fold.
After an extensive refurbishment, she is once again ready to ply for hire and although she captures the old time cruising vibe of an era long gone, she also has all the built in mod cons you would wish to find on a boat today and she holds her own in the Herbert Woods modern fleet.
From May 2017 she is willing and able to carry those couples, families and boating enthusiasts wanting to come and explore those very same magical waterways and rivers that meander through Norfolk and Suffolk.
Her all-round visibility from a central steering position, afford her passengers great views not only of where they are going but where they have been, so the wildlife and the myriad of birds inhabiting the Broads are impossible to miss.
She has a rear cabin with twin beds and convertible seating which provide two further single beds and there is also a family bathroom. Other key features include an external shore power connection (where available), LCD TV/DVD in the saloon and warm air heating system. Prices start from £879 for seven nights. Prices are based upon 2017 off-peak hire charges and exclude fuel surcharge, damage waiver and any additional security deposit (if applicable).
