Bure Valley Railway
Known throughout Norfolk as the longest 15 inch gauge line in the whole county, it runs between the historic market town of Aylsham all the way to the lovely town of Wroxham with stops in between in the villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall. The trip in total is 18 miles long and runs through the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
There is a minimum of two trains that run at any given time during open hours and up to six during peak times on weekends and during special events. The railway service is operated using either diesel or steam locomotives
Throughout the year the Bure Valley Railway offers a range of special events like the "Teddy Express" and the "Santa Special" trains so be sure to check out on our website when these events are being hosted for a train ride that is a little different from what we usually offer
WALK, CYCLE or PADDLE
The cycle and footpath which has been constructed to run along the railway allows the users the ability to enjoy the Norfolk countryside as much the patrons of the railway do and also enables them to walk one way and train there way back to where they started.
The main station on the Bure Valley Railway is at Aylsham on the A140 North of Norwich. Meals and light refreshments are available from our 'Whistlestop café' and there is a large souvenir and model railway shop.
