South Norfolk & The Brecks

South Norfolk and The Brecks are fantastic areas in Norfolk to discover

South Norfolk

From Hethersett to Kirby Bedon and all in between, South Norfolk is not as well known to the visitor as the north and northeast of Norfolk but you know when you take your time to explore, it has the most amazing places just waiting to be discovered.

It stretches its legs out and covers a lovely area of countryside from Hethersett to Wymondham, Attleborough way down to Thetford and across to Beccles and back up to Bramerton and Kirby Bedon trotting alongside the southern broads and rivers.

There are many wonderful pubs, restaurants and cafes, which certainly take care of every culinary urge you may have as you discover delights hiding in plain sight by car, boat, bike or on foot.

South Norfolk definitely has its fair share of fishing lakes and the rivers, The Tas, Chet, Yare, Little Ouse, Thet and Waveney to name a few, which meander their way across the landscape leaving in their wake gorgeous valleys, that blend seamlessly with the undulating fields and big sky that is South Norfolk.

Jump into a canoe or dayboat to get a birds eye view of the rivers or spend time with a rod trying to catch a fish or two. Or for the petrol heads amongst you, there is great go karting, Snetterton race track and Offroading experiences to try.

Of course you can keep your stamina up by eating and drinking your way round as well!

The Brecks

As you journey further south, the landscape morphs from lush cultivated fields into a sandy gorse covered area the locals call The Brecks or Breckland. It is can you believe, one of the driest areas in England but it does have a fantastic forest to explore.

Live open air concerts are hosted deep in the woods, and a birds eye view of the forest via Go Ape is great for those without a fear of heights certainly an experience not to be missed!

A visit to the English Whisky Company distillery is a must too. On reflection, the treetops trip should come first, followed by the whisky then the concert!
